IN THE NORTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL, TOWARD THE END OF THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT IN THE REST OF THE ADRIATIC, GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-50, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL TODAY STILL UP TO 65 KNOTS. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY IN THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC. SEA IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC POSSIBLY 4-5.

SYNOPSIS

A shallow trough with cold front is shifting across the Adriatic eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic NE winds 14-28, in the Velebit Channel today still up to 36 knots. In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic NW, along the coast this morning NE winds, 8-18, in the open sea up to 22 knots. Along the coast of the South Adriatic at first still SE winds 6-16 knots. Sea 3-4, locally in the North Adriatic possibly 4-5, along the coast of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic this morning still 2-3. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain, isolated thundery rain showers. Gradual clearing is expected in the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic during the day.

Mostly clear, but in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic at first still variably cloudy with a little rain or a shower with thunder. Moderate to strong, in places up to near gale force NE winds, spreading from the North and Central to the rest of the Adriatic. In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic at first still moderate to fresh NW winds. From the middle of the night west and north of Istria NE winds gradually easing to light to moderate. Sea slight and moderate, in the North Adriatic today still up to rough.
