LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N, IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC DURING THE NIGHT OF E and SE WINDS, 35-55, AND IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT OF NE UP TO 80 KNOTS. SEA LOCALLY IN THE OPEN POSSIBLY UP TO 5, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTH, DURING THE NIGHT IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC AS WELL.SYNOPSIS
A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest, while a shallow low lies over the South Adriatic.WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS
In the Central and South Adriatic NE and N winds 12-24, in places up to 30 knots. In the North Adriatic NE winds 8-16, in places up to 20, in the Velebit Channel up to 24, strengthening from midday to 14-28, in places up to 34, and in the Velebit Channel during the night up to 42 knots. Sea 2-3, toward the open 3-4, possibly up to 5. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain, isolated thundery rain showers, particularly in the South Adriatic. Moderate to near gale force NE winds will ease e little in the Central and South Adriatic in the second part of the night, and it will turn in the extreme south of the Adriatic from the middle of the night to E and SE winds. In the North Adriatic strong and gale force NE winds. Sea slight and moderate, in the open possibly up to rough, particularly in the northern part of the Adriatic. Variably cloudy, still with rain in places, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic.
