IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC DURING THE NIGHT AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL TOMORROW BRIEFLY DURING THE FORENOON, GUSTS OF SE and E WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. LOCALLY IN THE OPEN SEA POSSIBLY UP TO 5, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTH, DURING THE NIGHT IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC AS WELL. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTH AND TODAY STILL POSSIBLE IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC.SYNOPSIS
A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest, while a shallow trough lies over the South Adriatic.WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS
turning in the extreme south of the Adriatic late at night to E and SE 12-26 knots. In the North Adriatic NE winds strengthening to 14-28, in places up to 34, and in the Velebit Channel during the night up to 42 knots. Sea increasing to 3-4, possibly up to 5, mainly in the open of the South, during the night in the northern part as well. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain, isolated thundery rain showers, particularly in the South Adriatic, while remaining mostly clear in the Central Adriatic most of the day. In the Central and South Adriatic moderate to near gale force NE winds, easing a little and turning in the South, during the forenoon briefly in a part of the Central Adriatic as well, to moderate and strong E and SE winds. In the North Adriatic strong, in places up to gale force NE winds, easing gradually during the forenoon to moderate and strong. Sea slight and moderate, in the open possibly up to rough, particularly in the northern and southern part of the Adriatic. Variably cloudy, in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic scattered rain and a chance of isolated thundery rain showers.
