LOCALLY IN THE NORTH AND IN THE EXTREME SOUTH OF THE ADRIATIC GUSTS OF NE WIND 35-40, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 50 KNOTS. AT NIGHT LOCALLY IN THE OPEN OF THE NORTH ADRIATIC A CHANCE OF FOG.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure is stationary over the Adriatic while a trough over western Mediterranean is slowly becoming deeper.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and NW winds 4-14 knots. Locally in the North and in the extreme south of the Adriatic NE wind up to 20 knots, in the Velebit Channel up to 28 knots, midday temporarily diminishing a little while in the evening again reinforcing. Late in the day towards the open sea NW wind reinforcing to 10-20 knots. Sea 2-3, locally in the open of the South Adriatic and at the foot of Velebit 3-4. Visibility 20 km, at night locally in the open of the North Adriatic possible to be reduced to less than 1 km due to fog. Mostly clear, only in some places moderate cloudiness.

Light to moderate, in the North and in the extreme south of the Adriatic fresh NE wind, locally at the foot of Velebit also of near gale force. Towards the open sea fresh NW wind. Sea smooth to slight, locally in the open of the South Adriatic and at the foot of Velebit moderate. Locally in the open of the North Adriatic a chance of fog. Mostly clear, only in some places moderate cloudiness.
