IN THE NORTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC THIS MORNING AND IN THE GREATER PART OF THE ADRIATIC IN THE EVENING AND DURING THE NIGHT, LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC AT FIRST GUSTS OF SE, AND IN THE OPEN SEA DURING THE NIGHT OF NW WINDS, 35-40 KNOTS. STILL A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TODAY, MAINLY IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC.

SYNOPSIS

A cold front is slowly shifting across the Adriatic eastwards, while a ridge of high pressure is intensifying briefly from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic NE winds 12-22, in the Velebit Channel up to 26 knots, easing a little during the day and strengthening again in the evening. In the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic SE winds 12-24 knots, easing and turning during the day to NW and NE. Sea 2-3, in the open of the South, during the forenoon of the North Adriatic as well, up to 4. Visibility 20 km. Variably cloudy with scattered rain and isolated rain showers with thunder, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic.

Moderate, in places up to fresh NE, in the open sea of the South Adriatic up to strong NW winds. Sea smooth or slight, in the open of the South Adriatic up to moderate. Fine or fair, in places of the South Adriatic still variably cloudy with scattered rain and isolated rain showers at first.
