LOCAL GUSTS OF NE and N WINDS 35-60, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL THIS MORNING STILL UP TO 75 KNOTS. IN THE OPEN OF THE SOUTH AND CENTRAL ADRIATIC, AND AT FIRST OF THE NORTH ADRIATIC AS WELL, SEA UP TO 5. A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC MOST OF THE DAY.

SYNOPSIS

A ridge of high pressure has intensified over the Adriatic, while a low is shifting further toward the Aegean Sea. A new trough is expected to approach from the northwest tomorrow.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE and N winds 14-34, in the Velebit Channel up to 38, gradually easing in the North Adriatic to 10-20, in the Velebit Channel to 28 knots, and dying away in the evening. Sea 3-4, in the open 4-5, gradually calming in the North Adriatic in the afternoon to 2-3. Visibility above 20 km. Mostly clear and significantly colder. In the South, this morning in the a part of the Central Adriatic as well, variably cloudy with a risk of scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.

Moderate to near gale force NE and N winds gradually easing in the Central and South Adriatic and sea calming to slight, but in the open in the first part of the night possibly up to rough. Mostly clear and cold.
