SYNOPSIS

The ridge of high pressure is extending over the Adriatic from the north, while mosit and unstable air is circulating in high levels.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic NE winds strengthening to 12-24, in the Velebit Channel up to 30 knots. Elsewhere NW winds 6-16, locally in the open up to 20, and along the coast at first still NE 6-16 knots. Sea 2-3, locally in the North Adriatic possibly 3-4. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably cloudy with a little rain in places or isolated rain showers with thunder, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic.

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force NE winds. Elsewhere light to moderate, in the open sea up to fresh NW, turning along the coast during the night to light to moderate NE winds. Sea smooth or slight, locally in the North Adriatic possibly up to moderate. Variably cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunder, mainly in the South and in a part of the Central Adriatic today.
