SYNOPSIS

The low over the Ligurian Sea is deepening and it is extending a trough with frontal system toward the Adriatic. A ridge of high pressure is intensifying from the northwest.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

NE winds 15-25, in the Velebit Channel up to 35 knots. Toward the open sea of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic SE and SW winds 10-18 knots. Sea 2-3, in the North and in a part of the Central, and in the South Adriatic, 3-4, toward the open of the North Adriatic 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km. Variably or mainly cloudy with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder. Partial clearing is expected in the North Adriatic in the afternoon.

In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic fine or fair, elsewhere variably cloudy with brief scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder. Light to moderate, it the Velebit Channel up to strong NE winds, easing in the second part of the night. Toward the open of the South Adriatic light to moderate SE winds. Sea smooth or slight, toward the open, southwest of Porer at first, up to moderate.
