IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL, DURING THE NIGHT IN THE REST OF THE NORTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC, LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-50, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL DURING THE NIGHT UP TO 70 KNOTS. LATE IN THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-55 KNOTS. LATE IN THE DAY AND DURING THE NIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND SEA TOWARD THE OPEN UP TO 5.SYNOPSIS
The ridge of high pressure from the north is gradually weakening, while the shallow low over the Ionian Sea is filling up and shifting northeastwards. A new low is expected to generate over the central Mediterranean.WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS
In the North Adriatic NE winds 8-16, in the Velebit Channel up to 25 knots. Elsewhere NE, toward the open sea NW winds, 6-12, easing and turning to SE, strengthening in the afternoon to 10-20 knots. Sea 2-3. Visibility 10-20 km. Mostly clear, but cloud increase is expected during the day, bringing rain in places of the South and of a part of the Central Adriatic in the afternoon. No significant change in air temperatures.WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS
In the North and in a part of the Central Adriatic strong and near gale force, in the Velebit Channel up to gale force NE winds. Elsewhere strong and near gale force SE winds. Sea slight and moderate, toward the open sea up to rough. Variably or mainly cloudy with scattered rain, isolated rain showers and thunder. In the Central and South Adriatic a risk of even more abundant precipitation. In the North Adriatic no change in air temperatures, elsewhere significantly higher.
