IN THE NORTH AND IN A SMALL PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-45 KNOTS, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 70 KNOTS. IN THE SOUTH AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC LOCAL GUSTS OF SE WINDS 35-55 KNOTS. THUNDERSTORMS IN PLACES AND THE SEA IN THE SOUTH ADRIATIC 5.

SYNOPSIS

A low over western and central Mediterranean is filling up and spreading a trough with frontal disturbance towards the Adriatic. Strengthening of a ridge of high is expected from the north towards the Adriatic.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE ADRIATIC FOR THE FIRST 12 HOURS

In the North and in a small part of the Central Adriatic NE wind 15-25, in the Velebit Channel at times up to 38 knots, diminishing in the course of the day. Elsewhere SE wind 15-25, locally in the South Adriatic up to 30 knots, in the afternoon diminishing in the Central Adriatic. Sea 3-4, in the South Adriatic 4-5. Visibility 10-20 km, in places less than 10 km due to rain. Overcast with rain, showers and thunder, in the Velebit Channel with Bora drifted snow. No significant change in air temperatures in the North Adriatic, elsewhere warmer.

Variably to mostly cloudy with scattered rain, local showers and thunder. Along the coast of the North and of a small part of the Central Adriatic light to moderate, in the Velebit Channel reinforced NE wind, towards the open sea moderate NW wind. In the Central Adriatic light to moderate NW wind while in the South Adriatic in the beginning strong SE wind, diminishing till late in the day and in the second part of the night turning to NW wind. Sea smooth to slight, in the South Adriatic moderate.
