IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND IN A PART OF THE CENTRAL ADRIATIC TOMORROW MORNING, GUSTS OF NE WINDS STRENGTHENING TO 35-50, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 65 KNOTS. A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS DURING THE NIGHT AND TOMORROW, MAINLY IN THE OPEN SEA. A LITTLE CHANCE OF FOG PATCHES DURING THE NIGHT.
Synopsis
The low over the Tyrrhenian Sea is expected to deepen, the ridge of high pressure to intensify from the north and the weakened frontal system to shift across the Adriatic.
Weather forecast for the Adriatic for the first 12 hours
Mainly SE winds 4-12, in places up to 16 knots, turning in the North Adriatic around the middle of the night to NE and strengthening. Sea 1-2, increasing to 2-3. Visibility 10-20, in places with mist reduced to around 4 km, during the night possibly to less than 1 km due to fog. Fine or fair, but heavier cloud increase is expected during the night, bringing rain and a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder later on.
Weather forecast for the next 12 hours
Light to moderate SE and E, in the North, in the morning in a part of the Central Adriatic as well, NE winds strengthening to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force. Sea smooth or slight, increasing in the North Adriatic up to moderate. Variably cloudy with scattered rain and a risk of isolated rain showers with thunder, particularly in the open sea.
