IN THE NORTH ADRIATIC GUSTS OF NE WINDS 35-50, IN THE VELEBIT CHANNEL UP TO 60 KNOTS, EASING BRIEFLY AROUND MIDDAY AND STRENGTHENING AGAIN IN THE EVENING. A RISK OF LIGHT ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.
Synopsis
The shallow low over the central Mediterranean is extending the trough over the Adriatic, while the ridge of high pressure stays positioned to the northwest of the Adriatic.
Weather forecast for the Adriatic for the first 12 hours
In the North Adriatic NE winds 16-26, in the Velebit Channel up to 32, easing briefly around midday, in the Central and South Adriatic variable winds, mainly SE and E 4-14, briefly strengthening in places up to 20 knots. Sea 2-3, locally in the North Adriatic up to 4. Visibility 10-20, in places possibly reduced to around 4 km due to mist. Variably cloudy with scattered rain and with a chance of a few spotty showers with thunder.
Weather forecast for the next 12 hours
In the North Adriatic NE winds strengthening again to moderate to strong, in the Velebit Channel up to near gale force, gradually turning more to the south of the Adriatic to light to moderate NW and NE, except in the far south, where SE winds will continue to blow. Sea smooth or slight, in the Velebit Channel up to moderate. Variably cloudy with scattered rain or isolated rain showers with thunder.
